Yr 3 + 4 - Gilbert White House - 24th & 27th February 2026
As part of our ‘Pole to Pole’ geography topic this term, we will be learning about biomes and sustainability as well as building on some of our geographical skills, such as map and enquiry-based work.
To support this learning experience, we are planning to visit the Gilbert White Field Studies Centre. An exciting trip has been planned where the children will get the opportunity to conduct field studies in and around the centre’s 16th century barn. Trained staff will lead field study groups where children will learn more about navigation and map work as well as soils, rocks and sustainability. The children will also go into the main house and learn about the polar explorer Captain Oates.
Gilbert White Field Studies Centre Trip – Tuesday 24th & Friday 27rd February 2026*
This year, the trip has been split across two days because the centre cannot accommodate the number of children in Year 3 and 4 in one day. * You will be informed which day your child is going and who they are going with nearer to the time.
