Droxford Junior School

School Sports and Physical Activity

At Droxford Junior School, our aim is to give children the key skills and knowledge to make healthy life choices. An integral part of this is the provision of Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity (PESSPA).

All children access a minimum of two hours of PE a week in a curriculum which allows a steady progression of skills, knowledge and vocabulary.

Throughout their time with us, all children are exposed to appropriate levels of competition, including personal best challenges, festivals, sports day and inter-school competitions. These events test pupils' physical skills whilst teaching the spirit of fair play, sportsmanship and respect.

Pathways into school sport are available, as children are selected from their PE lessons to participate in local and county competitions and festivals. We are a member of both the South Eastleigh and Winchester Sports Partnership and the Swanmore Sports Cluster which present a brilliant range of sporting events across the school year.

Children who are chosen to represent the school should be very proud of themselves as it is a huge achievement to be selected. In recent years, Droxford have celebrated success in a variety of events including, cricket, tag rugby, football, cross country, netball, rounders and athletics. This has included the opportunity to play at the Ageas Bowl and the Hampshire School Games.
