Year 3 - Camping overnight on the school field.

During the Summer term the children in Year 3 will camp overnight on the school field. This is intended to be an introduction to staying away from home with their classmates and the first step on their residential journey at Droxford Junior School.

Children will develop their collaboration and teamwork skills by setting up their own tents in the afternoon before camp. They will participate in fun team building games during the evening, before enjoying a story and hot chocolate. In the morning they will eat a healthy breakfast and go for an enjoyable, learning experience in the woods and around the fields adjacent to the school. Back at school Year 6 children take over the teaching and help the Year 3s learn about trees and wildlife on the school grounds.

With all the school grounds developments happening - we know that in 2022 our children will enjoy a campfire experience as well as being able to enjoy the experience of the wildlife / natural play area and den building equipment.

The children really enjoy staying overnight with their friends and the camp provides an excellent stepping-stone to the longer residential visits in Years 4, 5 and 6.

Year 4 - Runways End (HCC Outdoor Activity Centre) Farnborough, Hampshire - April

At the end of the Spring term, the Year 4 children go to Runway’s End in Farnborough for a 2-night, 3-day residential. The facility is located in a secure, woodland setting in the north of Hampshire and accommodates all of our Year 4 children comfortably. Over the 3 days, the children take part in a number of different adventure-based activities including climbing, caving, shooting, abseiling, low ropes, orienteering and archery. The children are challenged and encouraged by both school staff as well as fully-trained centre staff who are all extremely encouraging and supportive. During the trip, the children have many opportunities to develop their resilience, tenacity, confidence and collaborative skills. As well as taking part in a number of new activities and learning new skills, the children also develop organisation and independence skills through staying away from home, keeping their dorms tidy, helping out with the cooking and washing up! We have always had extremely positive feedback from both children and parents and our staff really enjoy spending time with the children in a different setting.
