Droxford Junior School

Safeguarding

Droxford Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  This means that we have a proactive safeguarding culture and have Safeguarding and Child Protection policies and procedures in place which are robust in approach and expectation.

All staff are trained annually on safeguarding and we follow this up throughout the year. We follow our robust school procedures. Parents and carers are welcome to read the policy which is accessible under policies on this website or a hard copy on request.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is:

Mr Matthew Dampier (Headteacher)

Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSL) are:

Mrs Jenny Smith (Deputy Headteacher) and Mrs Lisa Greenwood (SENCo)

Our Designated Safeguarding Governor is:

Mrs Helen Parrott

What to do if you are concerned...

If you are concerned about a child’s welfare, please contact the school office so that they can immediately find a DSL for you to talk to. We also have key phone numbers in the school enabling you to contact relevant authorities.

Alternatively you can call Hampshire Children’s Services on 0300 5551384 or the Police.

Equally, if your concerns relate to the actions or behaviour of a member of staff (which could suggest that s/he is unsuitable to work with children) please ask to speak to a DSL in confidence, who will refer the matter to the Headteacher (or the Chair of Governors if the concern relates to the Headteacher) and procedures will be followed.

Please visit our Policies Page for the latest Child Protection and Safeguarding policies.
